A freeform is a sort of live action roleplaying, tending to avoid the padded weapons normally associated with the LARP term, and usually with rules that are both fairly minimal and often constructed specifically for a single game. Freeforms stress character interaction and negotiation, and often involve complex political situations.
Conventions such as a Terracon are often good situations to run a freeform, as they benefit from a large number of participants.
