Tekken is the greatest one-on-one fighting game ever (EVAR!). Many UniSFAns became addicted to this game when TomLynch brought his PlayStation to UniSFA in an effort to drum up competition. Most honoured competitors included DavidThackaberry, ChrisGrubb, ChrisGorham, TomLynch, AaronWright and LeightonHaynes.
TomLynch was originally introduced to Tekken 3 by LeightonHaynes on a couple of days' holiday at PeterCooper's dad's farm in the southwest in late 1999. So all blame for the subsequent infestation of Tekken playing in UniSFA should be laid at LeightonHaynes' feet.
At the peak of the Tekken obsession, players were consistently being kicked out of the Clubroom by UWA Security when they made their nightly round of CameronHall at 11 o'clock pm, having played continuously from 4 o'clock until that point without food or refreshment. "Advanced" techniques such as wave-dashing and multi-throws were considered passe, and partly abandoned in favour of simpler strategies that exploited opponents' psychological weaknesses, otherwise known as "cheap tricks".
There was one official Tekken tournament, organised by AaronWright. All players contributed $5 and the winner took all. TomLynch was the ultimate winner, beating DavidThackaberry's Ogre in the final by using a series of run-up/hop-kick moves.
The playing of Tekken on Wonkavision caused a fair amount of distress to some members of the club who didn't like video games nearly as much as they should have. After some deliberation the viewing of shows, and the playing of games on Wonkavision was limited to before ten o'clock am and after four o'clock pm. Nevertheless, arguments often broke out amongst members in the clubroom whenever Tekken was commenced. Most leading critics of Tekken were female, and since the game was played almost exclusively by males a gender divide was occasionally created.
In later years, the CameronHall blight of people constantly playing console video games was passed to UCC, where it was led by a degenerate group of younger UCCans (JamesCox and LionelPryce were among the main offenders) who valued such worthless entertainments as Super Smash Brothers Melee and Animal Crossing. These people had no understanding of the true nature of fighting games, nor of the Zen that is Tekken. The time of Tekken had passed, and a new, lesser age had emerged, populated by halfwits with poor taste.
